Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe's Annual Gala celebrates the enduring legacy of Nikola Tesla and honors modern innovators who exemplify his spirit of invention. The event spotlights the forthcoming developments at Wardenclyffe, including the expansion of STEAM programs and the anticipated opening of the Eugene Sayan Visitor Center in 2025. Through the gala, the center aims to raise funds to support these initiatives and further its mission of promoting science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) education, while safeguarding Tesla's legacy.

Tesla Lifetime Achievement Award

This award recognizes an individual that embodies Nikola Tesla’s spirit of innovation and has worked over their career for the betterment of humanity.

HONORING: DR. DAVID SPERGEL
President, The Simons Foundation
David N. Spergel is the President of the Simons Foundation and an eminent astrophysicist. He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton and his PhD from Harvard, before joining Princeton’s faculty in 1987, where he also served as Chair of the Astrophysics Department from 2006 to 2016. He played a key role in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) and the Roman Space Telescope missions. A member of prestigious scientific societies and the recipient of numerous awards, including the MacArthur Fellowship and Breakthrough Prize, Spergel has published over 400 papers and mentored over 100 students and postdocs, many of whom hold prominent academic positions globally. He has been recognized for his mentorship and contributions to NASA with the Exceptional Public Service Award.

Tesla Innovator of the Year Award

The Innovator of the Year Award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to their field in a Tesla related technology.

HONORING: KARA CANNON
CEO of EnzoChem and Board Member of TSCW
Kara Cannon is an experienced executive and leader with over 30 years in the life sciences industry, having held key roles at Enzo Biochem, Pall Corporation, and Dynal Corporation. Currently the CEO and a board member of Enzo Biochem. Kara also recently joined the Board for the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe. Ms. Cannon has a strong track record in marketing, sales, and operations, driving growth and innovation throughout her career. She is passionate about mentoring future life sciences leaders and serves on several boards, including New York Bio and Farmingdale State College.

Tesla Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award acknowledges an individual who is working to create change and be a disruptor in their space.

HONORING: PAUL TRAPANI
President of LISTnet
Paul Trapani is an entrepreneur and consultant experienced in executive management, software design and development, business operations, and technology planning and strategy. He is the President of Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet) and runs the software consulting company PJT Consulting. LISTnet serves as a chamber of commerce for the tech industry on Long Island and works to create a strong technology ecosystem for all companies on Long Island. PJT Consulting helps clients translate business requirements into software. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo and a master's degree in computer science from Hofstra University.
